3µF Motor Run Capacitor – 4 Terminals
If an appliance motor hums but will not start, starts slowly, or runs weakly, a failed run capacitor is one of the most common causes. Capacitors lose capacitance as they age, so the motor no longer gets the kick it needs to turn over.
This is a 3µF run capacitor with four terminals. In our own workshop it is most often fitted to Asko dishwashers, though the same value is used across a range of appliance motors and pumps. Backed by a 12-month warranty*.
What a failed capacitor looks like
- Motor humming or buzzing but not turning
- Motor slow to start, or only starting with a nudge
- Weak pump or wash performance
- Motor cutting out on thermal overload after running briefly
- Capacitor visibly bulging, split, leaking or burnt
Choosing the right capacitor
Capacitors are matched by specification, not by appliance model. Before ordering, check the old one and confirm:
- Capacitance: this unit is 3µF – it must match the rating printed on your old capacitor
- Terminals: this unit has 4 terminals
- Voltage: the replacement must be rated at or above the original voltage
Fitting the wrong capacitance will not fix the fault and can damage the motor. We stock other values – if yours reads something different, ask us and we will point you to the right one.
